Classical, Vernacular, Traditional, Beautiful

About me

I grew up in Gawler, South Australia, inspired by the beautiful heritage churches and 19th century masonry architecture of Adelaide and its surrounds. After a gap year spent working in the North Yorkshire countryside, I returned to Australia and undertook a Bachelor of Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Adelaide, graduating with First Class Honours in 2020.

I had become interested in the re-emergence of traditional and Classical building design in the later years of my undergraduate degree, and so in 2021 decided to apply to study a Master of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame in the United States- the only school in the world to teach architecture from the Classical perspective. Following my acceptance into the program, I was awarded an inaugural World Universities Postgraduate Scholarship from the Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation to support my studies in the US and commenced the program in August 2021.

I have completed my first year of the three-year program, and decided to defer my studies for a year to gain some practical experience. In the European summer of 2022 I worked with researchers from Princeton and Emory Universities on an archaeological dig on the Greek island of Samothrace, analysing and documenting the ancient architecture there, and then spent a few months in Sydney gaining valuable design experience as an Architectural Designer.

I am passionate about promoting traditional construction methods and handcrafts in Australia, and hope to combine my engineering and architectural knowledge to design beautiful and lasting architecture and art which inspires and enriches the lives of those who experience it.
